Texas HB1909 mandates crosswalk markings with either solid white lines or Texas-themed murals in certain intersections.
Texas HB1909 amends the Transportation Code to require local authorities to mark crosswalks with solid white lines or Texas-themed murals. The murals must completely fill the crosswalk boundaries, have a white, black, or unpainted background, and feature the shape of Texas in the manner of the Texas flag. Municipalities with populations of 100,000 or more must identify the five intersections most used by pedestrians and indicate each marked crosswalk by September 1, 2027. The act takes effect September 1, 2025.
