Texas HB1804 requires the Texas Ethics Commission to monitor the Internet websites of political subdivisions to ensure compliance with the requirement to make certain reports available online. The bill also mandates the commission to develop procedures for monitoring these websites. If a person fails to file a required report by the due date, the authority with whom the report is due can provide written notice of the failure and the deadline for filing. A person who fails to file a report by the 14th day after the due date is ineligible to be a candidate for or to hold a public office.
