Adjusts the basic allotment under the Foundation School Program to reflect inflation.
This bill modifies the Education Code to adjust the basic allotment under the Foundation School Program to reflect inflation. Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, the allotment will increase annually by the lesser of three percent of the previous year's allotment or the inflation rate, as determined by the comptroller using the Consumer Price Index. If the inflation rate is negative, it will be set to zero. The legislature may provide for a lesser amount in the General Appropriations Act, but it must be equal to or greater than the amount provided under the original allotment formula.
