Texas HB1749 amends the Government Code to expand the jurisdiction of municipal courts. The bill allows the governing body of a municipality to grant its court civil jurisdiction over health and safety and nuisance abatement ordinances. Municipal courts can also share jurisdiction with district or county courts within the municipality's limits and extraterritorial jurisdiction. Additionally, the municipal court can issue search warrants to investigate violations and seizure warrants to remove offending property and debris. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
