Texas HB1729 limits the number of terms a person can serve as a commissioner of Port Freeport.
Texas HB1729 amends the Special District Local Laws Code to limit the number of terms a person can serve as a commissioner of Port Freeport. A person may not have previously served two or more full terms as a commissioner. The completion of the remainder of an unexpired term by a person elected or appointed to fill a vacancy does not count as a full term. This limitation does not apply to terms that began before the effective date of the Act, which is September 1, 2025.
