Extends the deadline for filing wage claims with the Texas Workforce Commission to one year after wages are due.
This bill amends the Texas Labor Code to extend the deadline for employees to file a claim for unpaid wages with the Texas Workforce Commission. Effective for wages due on or after March 5, 2025, employees must file their wage claim within one year of the date the wages were due. This change does not apply retroactively to wage claims for wages that became due before March 5, 2025, which will continue to be governed by the previous law. The new law takes effect on September 1, 2025.
