Texas HB1624 amends the Texas Transportation Code to allow local authorities to install temporary traffic-control devices on highways under the jurisdiction of the Texas Department of Transportation without the department's permission, provided an existing traffic-control device becomes inoperable, the local authority notifies the department, and the temporary device is removed as soon as practicable after the original device is operable again. The bill also modifies Section 553.002(d) to exclude certain ordinances and temporary speed limit signs from its provisions.
