This bill amends the Texas Government Code to create a vacancy in the office of a senator or representative if the member is absent from all proceedings of the house for seven consecutive days without a leave of absence. The bill applies to absences occurring after its effective date. If the bill does not receive a two-thirds vote for immediate effect, it will take effect on the 91st day after the last day of the legislative session.
