Texas HB1351 establishes a leave program for employees to address family or medical obligations, including wage replacement benefits.
Texas HB1351 amends the Labor Code to create a new chapter on employee leave for family or medical obligations. Employees who have been employed for at least one year are entitled to at least 30 days of leave for their own serious health condition, to care for family members with serious health conditions, or to address family violence, sexual assault, sexual abuse, stalking, or trafficking. Employers must allow employees to use accrued paid leave for these purposes, up to 30 days. If employers do not provide paid leave, employees are eligible for wage replacement benefits.
