Exempts students under conservatorship of Texas Department of Family and Protective Services from tuition and fees at public higher education.
This bill amends the Texas Education Code to exempt students who were under the conservatorship of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services from paying tuition and fees at public institutions of higher education. The exemption applies if the student was under conservatorship on the day before their 18th birthday, on or after their 14th birthday if also eligible for adoption, on the day they graduated high school, on the day before adoption if after September 1, 2009, or on the day permanent managing conservatorship was awarded to someone other than a parent if after September 1.
