Texas HB1003 expands acceptable forms of photo identification for voting.
Texas HB1003 amends the Election Code to expand the list of acceptable forms of photo identification for voting. Acceptable forms now include a driver's license, election identification certificate, personal identification card, United States military identification card, United States citizenship certificate, United States passport book or card, a license to carry a handgun, and an identification card from a public institution of higher education. These forms must contain the person's photograph, date of birth, and full legal name. The changes take effect September 1, 2025.
