This resolution honors the memory of Dr. Barbara Alfreda Duncan-Cody, a distinguished physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology. She was the first Black female OB/GYN to open a private practice in Memphis, retiring in June 2025 after more than forty-five years of service. Dr. Duncan-Cody was also a community leader, serving on the Shelby County 911 Board and the Methodist Healthcare Foundation Board of Directors. She was affiliated with Methodist Hospitals of Memphis, the Medical Auxiliary, and the Bluff City Medical Society.
