SB2697 amends the charter for the City of Springfield to prohibit nepotism by preventing relatives of elected city officials, the city manager, and city employees from being hired or employed by the city. The definition of "relative" includes parents, children, spouses, siblings, and other family members who reside in the same household. The act requires approval by a two-thirds vote of the Springfield legislative body to take effect.
