Amends Tennessee law to reschedule cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III, setting penalties for possession.

This bill amends Tennessee law to recognize the federal rescheduling of cannabis from Schedule I to Schedule III. It establishes penalties for possession of cannabis, including fines and community service. For possession of one ounce or less, the court may impose a fine of up to $100 or require up to ten hours of community service. For possession of more than one ounce but less than one-half pound, the court may impose a fine of up to $500 or require up to forty hours of community service. The bill also allows for discretion in sentencing for those who make bona fide efforts to pay fines.
