Tennessee SB2533 amends the state's mental health laws by adding new sections to Title 38 and Title 41. It mandates the Tennessee peace officer standards and training (POST) commission to create guidelines for law enforcement officers on criteria for emergency and nonemergency involuntary admissions to inpatient treatment. It also requires the board to develop similar guidelines for correctional personnel. Both sets of guidelines must be annually trained to the respective personnel. This act will take effect on July 1, 2027.
