Tennessee SB2499 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 71, to require managed care organizations (MCO) and pharmacy benefits managers (PBM) to reimburse claims for long-acting injectable drugs intended for the treatment and prevention of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). These drugs must be administered in a pharmacy, physician's office, clinic, ambulatory surgical treatment center, or hospital. The act also mandates that if an MCO or PBM covers such a claim as a medical benefit or service, it must also cover it as a pharmacy benefit. This change takes effect July 1, 2026.
