This bill amends Tennessee Code to improve the operations and staffing of local veterans service offices. It encourages local governing bodies to maintain adequate staffing levels and office support for veterans. It mandates that county veterans service officers (CVSOs) and representatives (CVSRs) undergo background checks and receive hiring preference if they are veterans, especially combat veterans. It requires CVSOs and CVSRs to attain accreditation from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs within six months of appointment.
