Introduced·2/2/26

Tennessee SB2346 amends state laws to enhance background checks for child care employees.

Tennessee SB2346 amends state laws to strengthen background checks for individuals employed in child care settings. The bill mandates that local boards of education, public charter schools, LEAs, participating schools, and private schools submit employee names to the Department of Children's Services for review. The department must check for records of child abuse, severe child abuse, child sexual abuse, or child neglect. If an individual poses an immediate threat to children's health, safety, or welfare, the department must disclose this to relevant educational entities.
