SB2332 amends Tennessee's public charter school laws by allowing local boards of education to become authorizers for new public charter schools. The bill specifies that within 30 days of authorization, the local board and the charter school can mutually agree for the board to assume the role of authorizer and local educational agency. The charter agreement must be filed with the commission. The bill also sets the term for renewed charter agreements, with local boards setting a term of up to 10 years and the commission setting a term of 5 to 10 years. The changes take effect upon becoming law.
