AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 10, relative to reconsideration of library materials.

Introduced·2/2/26
Draft Text

Tennessee SB2319 mandates public libraries to adopt a materials reconsideration policy.

Tennessee SB2319 requires each public library to establish a materials reconsideration policy. This policy allows any legal resident of the county where the library is located to request the library withdraw, move, or reclassify an item from the library's collection. The policy must allow for reconsideration of any item, including physical books, electronic books, magazines, audio recordings, digital resources, and games. The library board must respond to the reconsideration request within 90 days, stating whether the item will be kept, relocated, reclassified, or removed from the collection.
