SB2258 amends Tennessee law to allow local educational agencies to review camera evidence on school buses for violations.
SB2258 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 55-8-151, to allow local educational agencies (LEA) to review evidence from cameras installed on the exterior of school buses. LEAs can authorize school safety personnel to review this evidence to determine if a violation has occurred. This does not prevent LEAs from also entering into a memorandum of understanding with local law enforcement for camera evidence review. The act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
