SB2236 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 68, Chapter 120, to allow local governments to exempt up to six-family dwellings from certain building code requirements. The bill permits the use of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 13D standard for these dwellings. It specifies that dwellings must be separated by wall and floor assemblies with a two-hour fire resistance rating and must not exceed three stories above grade plane.
