Draft Text

Establishes welding standards and certification requirements for structural steel welding in Tennessee.

The bill, known as the "Responsible Welding for Tennessean's Safety Act," sets standards and certification requirements for structural steel welding in Tennessee. It mandates that welders performing structural steel welding on projects must be tested and hold a valid certification from an accredited AWS testing facility or an individual accredited by the AWS. The welding must meet applicable standards, specifically the D1.1 and D1.5 standards established by the American Welding Society.
