Tennessee SB2088 mandates drug testing for individuals involved in mass shootings.

Tennessee SB2088 amends state law to require law enforcement officers to administer blood or urine tests for psychotropic drugs to individuals suspected of committing mass shootings. A mass shooting is defined as an incident where four or more individuals are injured or where a reasonable person would conclude that the shooter attempted to kill four or more individuals. Qualified practitioners, including physicians and nurses, must collect the samples as soon as practicable, and hospitals must send the samples and test results to the health science center.
