Tennessee SB2017 amends Tennessee Code to allow members receiving temporary disability benefits to establish retirement credit during or after their disability. Effective July 1, 2026, members must submit an application to establish this credit. The employing department or agency must certify the period of disability and salary prior to the disability. Contributions must be remitted based on the salary prior to the disability, plus interest if applicable. Members cannot be credited with more than one year per occurrence of temporary disability.
