Tennessee SB1966 amends Tennessee Code to require criminal background checks for renewal of licenses for osteopathic and allopathic physicians, professional nurses, and practical nurses. The checks must be initiated by the respective boards and any associated costs must be paid by the applicant. The act takes effect July 1, 2026, and applies to renewal applications on or after that date.
