Tennessee SB1948 amends state law to require medical examiners to report sudden unexpected infant deaths and sudden deaths in the young to a national.

Tennessee SB1948 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 38, Chapter 7, Part 1, to mandate that county medical examiners report cases of sudden unexpected infant deaths and sudden deaths in the young to the Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) and Sudden Death in the Young (SDY) Case Registry. This registry is a national surveillance system coordinated by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health.
