SB1945 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 40, Chapter 11, to modify procedures for the release on bail. If a defendant violates a condition of release, is charged with an offense during release, or obstructs trial proceedings, the court may temporarily revoke the defendant's bond and order them held without bail for up to ten days pending a hearing. Following a bail revocation hearing, if the court finds a violation, it may permanently revoke the bond, ordering the defendant held without bail pending trial or without release during trial. This act takes effect July 1, 2026.
