SB1883 amends Tennessee Code to change how contested cases are handled in certain administrative proceedings. If an operator appeals a citation or assessment of a penalty, the appeal must be conducted as a contested case before an administrative judge. The administrative judge must schedule a conference within 30 days and set a hearing date within 180 days unless extended by agreement or for good cause. An initial order must be issued within 90 days of the hearing record completion. If not appealed, the administrative judge's order becomes final.
