Tennessee SB1736 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 55, Chapter 10, to change the penalties for leaving the scene of an accident. It elevates the offense to a Class E felony if a person violates the requirement to stop and comply with the law. Additionally, it increases the penalty to a Class D felony if the person knew or should have known that death resulted from the accident. This act will take effect on July 1, 2026.
