Tennessee SB1724 amends Tennessee Code to allow jailers to refuse accepting arrestees who require medical attention and have been arrested for misdemeanors not involving crimes against a person. If a jailer refuses such an arrestee, the arresting agency must have the arrestee evaluated by a healthcare provider. The act takes effect July 1, 2026.
