Complete·5/15/26

Tennessee SB1716 allows schools to maintain epinephrine for treating allergic reactions.

Tennessee SB1716 amends the state code to allow both public and nonpublic schools to maintain epinephrine for treating allergic reactions. Schools can store epinephrine in at least two secure, unlocked locations. If a student's personal epinephrine is unavailable, school nurses or trained personnel can use the school's supply following a physician's standing protocol. Physicians prescribing epinephrine for school use are not held liable for injuries unless the prescription or protocol was issued with intentional disregard for safety.
