SB1708 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 39 and Title 40, to revise bail procedures. It restricts entities from securing a defendant's release unless specifically authorized, and limits entities to posting security for no more than three defendants per year or once per defendant per year. The bill also redefines "family" and "legal guardian" for the purposes of these provisions. This act takes effect July 1, 2026.
