Tennessee SB1697 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 68, Chapter 5, to require the Department of Health to test each newborn for sickle cell trait. If a newborn tests positive, the department must notify the parent or legal guardian as soon as practicable. This act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
