SB1649 amends Tennessee Code to change the terms and confirmation process for state university board members.

SB1649 amends Tennessee Code to require members appointed to the state university board for Tennessee State University by the governor to be confirmed by joint resolution of the senate and house of representatives before beginning their term. It also changes the start date of terms for these members to February 1, with terms expiring six years later. For members already serving on February 1, their terms are extended to January 31 of the year following their current term's expiration.
