SB1628 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 38 and Title 39, to change the criteria for retired law enforcement officers to qualify for enhanced handgun carry permits. The bill specifies that officers must have served for at least ten years prior to retirement and be POST-certified or have equivalent training. It also allows officers who served less than ten years but retired due to an injury in the line of duty to qualify if they were POST-certified or had equivalent training at retirement. This act takes effect upon becoming law.
