Tennessee SB1602 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 39, Chapter 13 and Title 55, Chapter 10, to increase the penalties for leaving the scene of an accident. It changes the penalty for a violation to a Class E felony and makes it a Class D felony if the person knew or should have known that death resulted from the accident. The changes take effect on July 1, 2026.
