SB1587 amends Tennessee Code to establish strict liability for employers and officials who knowingly allow individuals unlawfully present in the United States to operate commercial motor vehicles. It also creates a cause of action for the attorney general and reporter to sue such employers and officials, and allows for civil penalties of at least one million dollars. The act further provides for qui tam enforcement, allowing individuals to bring civil actions on behalf of the state and recover a portion of the proceeds. The act takes effect July 1, 2026.
