SB1470 modifies Tennessee Code to restrict the liability of nonprofit organizations that contract with the Department of Children's Services or a single source continuum contractor. These organizations can avoid liability for employee or volunteer misconduct if they comply with specific requirements, including timely criminal background checks and reporting known misconduct. The act does not affect liability for gross negligence or mandated training on child abuse prevention and reporting. This change takes effect July 1, 2026.
