Tennessee SB1396 amends the Tennessee Code to modernize bail receipt requirements by allowing both written and digital formats. It deletes the language "furnish a receipt" and substitutes "furnish a written or digital receipt" in Section 40-11-304(a). Similarly, it changes "keep a duplicate copy of every receipt" to "keep a duplicate written or digital copy of every receipt." This act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
