Prohibits firearm sales to patients in mental institutions within five years.
This bill amends Tennessee law to make it an offense to sell, offer to sell, deliver, or transfer a firearm to a person who has been a patient in a mental institution within the previous five years. It defines "mental institution" as any facility providing care for mental illness, excluding those solely for alcohol abuse without other disorders. The changes take effect July 1, 2025.
