Tennessee SB1163 mandates schools to include evidence-based skills training on behavioral interventions and conflict management in their programs.

Tennessee SB1163 amends the state's education code to require Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and public charter schools to incorporate at least two hours annually of evidence-based skills training on positive behavioral interventions, conflict prevention, functional behavior assessments, de-escalation, and conflict management. This training can also fulfill two hours of the in-service training required by another section of the code. Additionally, the bill removes a specific subdivision from another section of the education code. The changes will take effect on July 1, 2025.
