Tennessee SB1145 mandates burial within 48 hours if no autopsy or embalming is requested.

Tennessee SB1145 amends the state's burial laws to require that a body be buried within 48 hours if the person or government agency in charge does not request an autopsy or embalming. This requirement does not apply if an autopsy is mandated by the Post-Mortem Examination Act or another law due to the circumstances of the death. The act is set to take effect on July 1, 2025.
