Tennessee SB1083 amends state law to prohibit local governments and public institutions of higher education from basing hiring decisions on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or disability. The bill also prohibits these entities from hiring to achieve diversity, equity, or inclusion goals. The changes apply to county, municipal, and metropolitan governments, as well as public higher education institutions.
