Tennessee SB1036 mandates that all driver licenses and photo identification licenses be manufactured and printed within the state.
Tennessee SB1036 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 12 and Title 55, Chapter 50, to require that all driver licenses and photo identification licenses be manufactured and printed within the state. The Department of Safety must evaluate the cost-effectiveness of producing these licenses in-state versus using a private vendor. The licenses must be manufactured in Tennessee using the most cost-effective method. The act takes effect immediately for cost-effectiveness reviews and on January 1, 2026, for all other purposes.
