Tennessee SB1017 allows disabled veterans to apply for a free distinguishing placard instead of a registration and license plate.
Tennessee SB1017 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 55, Chapter 21 and Title 55, Chapter 4 to provide disabled veterans with the option to apply for a free distinguishing placard instead of a registration and license plate. The placard can be used in place of any distinguishing license plate for parking purposes. The act also includes provisions for the issuance of these placards and defines "certificate" to include both registration and license plates and distinguishing placards issued to disabled veterans. The changes take effect July 1, 2025.
