Complete·5/13/25

Tennessee SB1003 amends education code to allow pre-kindergarten teachers to use universal screeners as an alternative growth model.

Tennessee SB1003 amends Title 49 of the Tennessee Code Annotated to allow pre-kindergarten teachers to use approved universal screeners as an alternative growth model for evaluation. The state board must approve at least one universal screener for pre-kindergarten students. Local education agencies and public charter schools may allow teachers in non-tested grades K-2 to use certain screeners for evaluation. The approved screeners must not be based on the pre-k/kindergarten portfolio growth model. The changes apply to the 2025-2026 school year and each school year thereafter.
