Tennessee SB0849 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 63, to require the boards of osteopathic examination and medical examiners to develop and offer an optional course in maternal mental health. The course must cover best practices in screening, the range of maternal mental health disorders, evidence-based treatment options, and when to consult with a psychiatrist. Successful completion of the course can be credited toward continuing education requirements for physicians practicing in pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, or psychiatry.
