SB0831 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 2, to allow voters to declare their political party affiliation or remain unaffiliated when registering to vote. The county election commission will record this information in the voter's permanent registration record. If a voter does not make a designation, they will be recorded as unaffiliated. The bill also modifies the rules for changing party affiliation during primary elections. This act takes effect July 1, 2025.
