Tennessee SB0652 amends Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 4, to establish monthly payments for the medical care of retired service canines. When a canine utilized by the Department of Correction is retired, the department will pay a correctional officer $85 monthly for the canine's care. The officer must maintain medical records and submit them annually by June 1. Upon the canine's death, the officer must notify the department within 30 days, after which the monthly payments will cease. This act takes effect July 1, 2025.
